DAVE HATTON

  • My work is rooted in a deep respect for the natural world, particularly as it exists here in Arizona. I have had a lifelong fascination with light - how it moves across the land, shifts tones, and evokes emotion - especially during the quiet moments of sunrise and sunset. When I go into nature, my intention is not simply to capture beauty, but to create images that invite reflection and ask the viewer to slow down and stay awhile.

Working primarily in Arizona’s open and untamed environments, I am drawn to scenes that balance tranquility with quiet power. Desert forms, mountain forests, and expansive skies become visual meditations. While the locations may be recognizable, my goal is not documentation, but presence. “I feel like I am there,” is a phrase I frequently hear from those experiencing my work, and it reflects the connection I hope to create.

I photograph with the final presentation always in mind. When I feel a sense of peace in a place, I strive to bring that same feeling to the viewer. Large-scale metal prints allow color, contrast, and detail to come alive with depth and clarity, reinforcing the immersive quality of each image. Each piece is produced in limited editions, honoring both the singular moment the photograph was made and the collector who brings it into their space.

Ultimately, my work is an invitation to step away from daily noise and reconnect with the natural world in a way that feels calm, expansive, and enduring.

  • Large-scale landscape photography inspired by Arizona’s deserts, forests, and skies, focused on light, atmosphere, and a sense of place.

  • I am inspired by Arizona’s vast and varied landscapes, where light, scale, and stillness come together to create moments that feel both peaceful and powerful.
